Miss Sophia Bisola Olanrewaju
Finally done with the editing, so for the interview just to keep everything short we will be AS (Abuad Student) and the omodebirin arewa will be MA (Miss Abuad).
Okay let's go (I'd like to add that at various stages of the interview I'll be making use of brackets to add ish...something like editor's note)
Okay let's really go now
AS: Can you give us a little intro on yourself we sha know you name, so you just continue from there
MA: Okay I'm from Oyo state, Ibadan to be precise. I live in Benin and sometimes Lagos.
I'm 16 and my birthday's on the of 13th July.
AS: 16..wow, that's young. Hope you don't have any problem with me adding your age to the interview sha
MA: Yeah, No problem.
AS: So why did you decide to contest for the Pageant
MA: Well my friends' encouragement and my desire to be a beauty queen helped me make that decision
AS: Your desire? How long have you wanted to be a beauty queen
MA: Since when I was a little girl, everyone in my family knew it and they called me little queen. I'd just climb the table during dinner and walk to and fro, I just always had the picture in my head.
(Ok this the first note, I was genuinely impressed with the fact that she has already achieved one of her goals or desires at 16, inspiring shit right... While am out here getting old and still yet to achieve my superhero desires I had as a kid; no spider had bitten me to give me spider man powers or nothing. On an unrelated note considering the fact that the only things that Iron Man, Green Arrow and Batman had are their money and brains, Bill Gates is a massive disappointment.)
...sorry I lost focus maybe this editor's note is not such a good idea after all
Back to the interview
AS: So how did winning it feel?
MA: I was honestly in shock at first, but it was an honor winning. I was elated, full of joy, I was really excited about it.
The second best smile in Abuad... Mine is the first, obviously.
AS: I saw on the poster for the finale that you guys were put through 3 weeks of intense training and what not. So what exactly were you doing.
MA: Okay ehm, so we had cat walk sessions, dance training , talks on qualities of a queen, work outs every morning (except from Sundays) and we had people talk to us on general ethics
AS: So how did you mix that up with morning lectures
MA: It wasn't so hard later on we got used to it and in a way it helped our time management individually
AS: How?
MA: We were always engaged and we had school work too so I had to look for a way to plan each day to my advantage, it didn't affect my books.
AS: Ok so what was the most stressful thing about the competition?
MA: Picking out my outfit, because we had to be creative and gathering the right ones wasn't easy
AS: So from your perspective who did that best among you guys, that is picking out outfits
MA: Well, I was told that my cultural outfit was the best.
AS: What other dressing categories were they?
MA: Casual and dinner dress
When she found out my smile was better than hers
AS: So did you think you would from the onset?
MA: lol I was on the fence, but I put in everything into whatever I was doing and people's comment on my character made me feel worthy of winning
AS: Did you get only positive comments?
MA: Were they negative comments? People just kept saying I'm really young.
AS: So, after winning what has changed with you?
MA: I'm still the same me, probably just the title, and the popularity that came with the crown and well I'm supposed to work on a pep project. But I'm preparing for my unveiling every other thing comes after that
AS: Any idea on what the project's going to be
MA: We're still working on that
AS: So what's the unveiling about?
MA: You'll know when the time comes
AS: No hint sef
MA: Nah, not yet.
AS: I think that will be all for now sha.
Hmmm.. I may have to concede my best smile title
(Okay so if you want to know more about her, use the comment section to ask we'll relay the answers back to you and if it warrants it then they'll be a part II of the interview... You could ask us on Twitter (@Abuadstudent and @DezmundLeso)
