President Randle Enitan |
Previously on this The Talisman Interview Series: We met a Female Footballer, some proper Abby Wambach and Marta Vieira da Silva rolled into one, Jonathan Emem. And yes, to answer your question, she’s a better footballer than you, YES YOU!
- How about a brief introduction of yourself? Any fascinating details you may like us to know?
I
am Enitan Randle, a 500level law student. I was part of the team that won gold
medal in the just concluded NPUGA 2015.
- Can we get a brief history about yourself as a sportsman generally?
It
has been an activity I love to take part in right from childhood.
Getting
involved in some particular sports/games is as a result of the desire to learn
new things. E.g chess
ü
You’re known to be involved in
different sporting activities, can you tell us about them?
I
take part in football, tennis, chess, track & field. Football is my dearest
of them all followed by chess. I also attempt playing other sports like
basketball, volleyball, etc just to have basic knowledge of the sports/games.
ü
Ever considered a professional career
in any of those?
No
ü
You’re also the manager of Preston FC
in the AFL, can you shed some light on your managerial career so far?
It
has been beautiful, sometimes very tiring and emotionally tasking.
The
records are impressive and the players have been wonderful.
I
can recall my first match in charge (Of Preston) was a massive 7-1 defeat.
Afterwards we had 5 matches unbeaten run, where we won 4 matches & drew 1.
We were sad that we could not get to the medal position at the end of the day.
I give glory to God for everything and thank the players for their courage.
ü
Why chess during the NPUGA games?
I
like chess and it was a sport I thought we could get a medal. Happy we got gold
medal, leading the 2 place with a massive 5 points gap. I appreciate my teammates
and the coaches for the efforts we kept in and I say to them, voltage!
ü
Your experience at The NPUGA games
2015? Medals won? Lessons learnt?
The
game against Ajayi Crowther University was a very sad game for me.
I
had all the advantage and allow my opponent come back and win the game. It was
traumatising for me.
My
best game was against B.I.U.
They
had gone undefeated in the tournament, defeating their opponents by 4-0 points.
We
were apprehensive and had to concentrate fully. We won them 4-0 points too. It
was a beautiful moment in the tournament.
ü
The most difficult opponent in a chess
match?
The
Al-hikma guy was my most difficult opponent.
ü
Your Sports Heroes?
I
have quite a number of those. My heroes are John Terry, Petr Cech , Rodisha,
Usain Bolt, Perpetual Nwokocha, Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Anete, Akparo,
Onukak, Obekpa Daniel, Ayodele Ore, Isekiri, Jimoh Ibrahim, Doyin, Emem, etc
ü
How do you manage to still keep up
with Sports even with your ever busy schedule as President of The Law Student
Society?
I
do trade-offs, do away with whatever I can from my schedule. I try making sure
important events are not happening at the same time so that I can leave one for
the other.
ü
Your fitness routine?
I
don't have any fitness routine. I go out for fitness whenever I feel like,
except where there is a competition coming up and the coach insists that we
must observe a particular routine.
ü
Your hobbies asides engaging in sports
activity?
ü
I
just do anything that comes to my mind.
ü
Your preferences in Music; Genre and
Artistes?
I
am not limited to any particular genre. I listen to any music that is appealing
or entertaining
ü
Your philosophy of life?
God
first
ü
(For those in the Amebo ministry) YOUR
SIGNIFICANT OTHER/LOVE INTEREST?
(Laughs).
That part is on a low key
