On the Previous Episode of the Talisman- We caught up with Abuad’s football star, Onukak, and learnt a few things about him
On the latest Episode of the Talisman- Tonia gives us a bit of an insight about herself as a SportswomanKick off!
Q. A little introduction? Full name/Dept/Or any other details that we may find interesting?
Nzenaguora Tonia, 300 Level Medicine and Surgery.
Q. Any story behind your interest in Table Tennis?
**pauses a bit** Nah…not much of a story, just love the sport.
Q. Role Models in the sport?
My brothers. I play better than them sha!
Q. What fascinates you about the game unlike other sports?
Virtually anybody can play table tennis. One crippled guy, in NPUGA 2013 could beat any player there. You don’t find such in other sports
Our coach makes us jog and stretch before a game but other than that, I have no personal routine.
Q. You ever get tensed up during a game? How do you get that off?
Yeah, all the time! I shake it off and play better when people start cheering me though
Q. Workout/Exercises habits?
Used to do squats some time ago but it stopped working
Q. Your experience at The NPUGA Games 2015; Medals won? Schools you took on?
NPUGA 2015 was really fun with all the voltage and stuff but schools like Veritas, McPherson, Elizade, Ajayi Crowther and JABU were just invisible. I didn’t come up against anyone from those schools. BIU students were just everywhere
I won 3 silver medals
I took on players from Redeemers, Lead City, Babcock and Benson Idahosa Universities
Q. Your favorite game type; Singles/Doubles/Mixed Doubles?
Mixed Doubles
Q. Your favorite partner?
I have had only one playing partner, Joyce Abubakar. We’ve been playing together since 2013.
Q. Your most challenging opponent ever?
Adejoke from Lead City
Q. The Best game you ever played?
Against Lauretta from BIU. The Girl was really good and we deuced!!!
Q. The most disappointing game you ever played and why it was disappointing?
Against Redeemers. I won 2-1 but the girl wasn’t supposed to win any set at all.
Q. Aside Table Tennis, any sport we may find you playing?
Badminton, Volleyball and Basketball
Q. Your favorite non-Table Tennis Sport Heroes?
CR7! well....Just because he’s handsome.
Q. Your hobbies asides sports?
Watching movies (cartoon), eating and dancing
Q. Any plans for a future career in the game?
Yes if my course allows
Q. Support from friends while playing? Your biggest fans amongst your friends?
Yeah, Joyce and Stephanie Okeleke
Q. Your choice of music? Favorite Artiste? Favorite song?
All Kinds of Music actually
No Favorite artiste.
Favorite song is “Flying without Wings by Westlife”
Q. You have a life philosophy or Principle?
“VALAR MORGHULIS” (All men must die)
Q. (Amebo bonus) Are you taken or should boys dust their CVs and apply?
(Laughs) I’M NOT TAKEN O!!! But if they are applying they must have “Lover of Game of Thrones” on their resume! That’s all! LOL
Q. Your Crush? Details?
LOL…My Crush is one guy like that. He’s not really tall. Dark and Cute. That’s all the details I can give o!
