This has been a question of debate for quite some years now with no conclusive facts established, but the most reasonable was seen this year, when the provost decided to open up on this issue.
The current 300L students need to write a standard medical exam for them to cross-over to the much acclaimed clinicals department at the prestigious "federal medical centre in ido-ekiti (campuses have already been built) , but surprisingly..as I speak..they haven't written the exam, because the course has not been accredited.
The accreditation process naturally consists of two phases, both phases being orchestrated by the ever common "NUC" and the prestigious council of doctors. ..the NUC is usually easy to scale through, with the doctors being as ruthless as ever in deciding whether a university is allowed to graduate doctors that will come of need in the nearest future.
I had a correspondent speak to a 200L medical student a while back and the student released bery little information that the provost of the college of medicine will do his best to get the course accredited.
While in school, during the month of july, I witnessed the NUC accreditation team assess the college of medicine and I had to say..they were pretty impressed, but we still awaited the decision of the doctors..which in all fairness..possess that "final say"
Again..scrambling here and there l..looking for news..I found out from a student that the accreditation might be in its final phase..with the only problem being the use of a federal property for private use, the student also disclosed that the permission of the president is paramount to seeing this accreditation exercise a success..
I believe this accreditation. .us held by a very fine thread which might disappoint any minute, I fear for the 300L students...as they have been preparing for this exam since march this year..we can only hope the school pushes its workforce to the limit..to get this accreditation and to ensure progress of the first set of medical students
